Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Trailer: Kevin Smith is back with Jason Mewes

Despite quickly finding cult status for films like Clerks and Dogma, Kevin Smith has fallen out of favour with a lot of film fans over the past 15 or so years (and Bruce Willis) but he still has very loyal following. Jay and Silent Bob are his two most popular characters and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot follows on from their 2001 film, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (as well as appearing in many of Smith's other films). This is Smith's very own Marvel-style homage that brings back a lot of the characters who have appeared in his View Askewniverse over the years. The comedy in the trailer feels like it might have worked 20 years ago, so this is probably one for Kevin Smith diehards. Watch the trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot above.

After losing the legal rights to their names over a film reboot of Bluntman and Chronic, Jay and Silent Bob travel across the United States in an attempt to prevent the reboot from being made.

Smith wrote the script, with the cast starring Rosario Dawson, Chris Hemsworth, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Val Kilmer, Melissa Benoist, Donnell Rawlings, Justin Long, Jason Biggs, James Van Der Beek, Craig Robinson, Aparna Brielle, Shannon Elizabeth, Brian O'Halloran, Jason Lee and Joey Lauren Adams.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot will play in select US cinemas and select times on October 15 and 17, the best time after that is to try and catch it on VOD when released. It also seems to be getting a UK release of some sort, but we're not sure of the details right now.
