J.J. Abrams to direct Star Wars Episode IX

There were few tears shed last week with the news that Colin Trevorrow would no longer be directing Star Wars Episode IX, but getting in J.J Abrams as his replacement is surely going to wipe away any concerns about the direction it will take.

Chris Terrio, writer for both Argo and Justice League, will co-write with Abrams, which may mean wiping the slate clean completely and starting from scratch. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said: “With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for," she went continued. "I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy.”

Whether or not this will affect the schedule June 2019 release date remains to be seen but first up, of course, will be The Last Jedi on December 15th.
