I’m A Cyborg (R2) in May

Tartan Video have announced the UK DVD release of I’m A Cyborg on 26th May 2008 priced at £19.99. The latest film from the Korean director Park Chan-Wook (Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, Oldboy and Lady Vengeance) is a madcap fantasy that weaves drama and comedy together to create a dream-like fable.

Young-goon is admitted to a mental institution. Believing herself a cyborg, she charges herself with a transistor radio. She encounters Il-soon a fellow inmate (Jung Ji-hoon), who believes he can steal other people’s traits, and convinced he’s gradually fading away to become a dot. However, he steals ‘the sleep flying method’ to help Young-goon move freely about, and also the ability to yodel so that he can sing to Young-goon when she feels low. But more specially, he steals her sense of ‘sympathy’ and feels her sadness for her. When Young-goon refuses to eat, living off a diet of batteries, she decides it’s his job to get her on her feet again.
