Hunger Games sequels will be released on schedule

Film studio Lionsgate, responsible for The Hunger Games film trilogy, has issued a statement following the passing of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Hoffman had a supporting role as gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee in the 2013 sequel Catching Fire, and was due to reappear in the series' conclusion, Mockingjay, which is to be split into two parts.

Lionsgate has confirmed that Hoffman had finished his work on Part One, and had only nine days left of shooting on Part Two, but have assured fans that this will not affect the cinematic release dates.

Mockingjay Part One is scheduled to open in the UK on 21 November 2014, with Part Two scheduled for 20 November 2015.
