Holmes and Watson trailer: Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly take us back to Baker Street

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes has probably been adapted for big screen more times than any other character in the history of cinema. It's a legacy that begun in 1900 with the one minute silent short film, Sherlock Holmes Baffled and the great sleuth was last portrayed by Ian McKellen in Mr. Holmes in 2015. Holmes and Watson reunites Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as the Baker Street duo for the first time proper since 2008's Step Brothers. The film is a comedic take on the famed literary characters Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson as they use their brilliant minds to solve another mystery. Watching the trailer it looks like it is riffing off the other Sherlock Holmes films with Robert Downey Jnr. and Jude Law and the jokes look pretty flat, it has to be said.

Ethan Cohen (Get Hard) writes and directs, with the supporting cast featuring Ralph Fiennes, Rebecca Hall, Kelly Macdonald, Hugh Laurie, Lauren Lapkus, Noah Jupe, Pam Ferris and Rob Brydon.

Holmes and Watson opens in UK cinemas on December 26th 2018.
