Happy Death Day 2U trailer: Someone’s gonna have a killer birthday

Blumhouse aren't the type of production company to hang around and following on from the success of last year's Happy Death Day (which only came out in October 2017) a sequel called Happy Death Day 2U is already in the can and a date in the diary for an early 2019 release. Their riff on Groundhog Day definitely has plenty of legs for more films, so if this goes big at the box office there'll be plenty more where this came from. Check out the first trailer for Happy Death Day 2U above to see more.

Tree Gelbman is a blissfully self-centred collegian who wakes up on her birthday in the bed of a student named Carter. As the morning goes on, Tree gets the eerie feeling that she’s experienced the events of this day before. When a masked killer suddenly takes her life in a brutal attack, she once again magically wakes up in Carter’s dorm room unharmed. Now, the frightened young woman must relive the same day over and over until she figures out who murdered her.

Christopher Landon is directing once again, with the cast featuring Israel Broussard, Jessica Rothe, Ruby Modine and Suraj Sharma.

Happy Death Day 2U opens in UK cinemas on February 14th 2019.
