Generation Wealth trailer: How the world became so rich and ugly

Photographer and filmmaker Lauren Greenfield has spent much of her career looking at the world's growing obsession with image and materialism, with her last documentary, The Queen of Versailles, proving to be both a critical and commercial success. It has been six years since the release of that film and now she returns with Generation Wealth and you can check out the trailer above.

With her new film Greenfield puts the pieces of her life’s work together for in an incendiary investigation into the pathologies that have created the richest society the world has ever seen.

Spanning consumerism, beauty, gender, body commodification, ageing and more, Greenfield has created a comprehensive cautionary tale about a culture heading straight for the cliff’s edge. Greenfield's film, simultaneously a deeply personal journey, rigorous historical essay, and raucously entertaining expose, bears witness to the global boom-bust economy, the corrupted American Dream and the human costs of capitalism, narcissism and greed.

Generation Wealth arrives in UK cinemas on July 20th 2018.
