Some updates on DVD releases already covered here on DVD Times:
Almost Famous Untitled: The Bootleg Cut - coming from Dreamworks on the 4th of December, this will be a 3-disc set (2 DVDs and 1 CD) and will retail at $34.95. The set will feature two versions of the movie, with the 159-minute director's cut on the first disc and the 122-minute theatrical cut on the second. Extras include an audio commentary with director Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire), a BBC Lester Bangs interview, "Stairway To Heaven" deleted scene with commentary, Stillwater's Cleveland concert excerpt, a list of Cameron Crowe's top 10 albums of 1973, Cameron Crowe's Rolling Stone articles, the complete screenplay accessible by DVD-ROM and the original trailer. The CD will contain six songs by Stillwater, and was originally presented to the cast and crew as a wrap-up present. One notable omission seems to be the HBO behind-the-scenes featurette from the original single-disc release, which is a shame since it is actually one of the more insightful of its type. Thanks to both DVD File and The Uncool - Cameron Crowe Online for this information.
America's Sweethearts - Columbia have now announced the full specifications for the disc, which was previously announced as a 13th of November release. It will feature both anamorphic widescreen and full frame transfers, English Dolby Digital 5.1 and English and French Dolby Digital 2.0 surround tracks, English and French subtitles, "Close Up: America's Sweethearts" featurette, deleted scenes, filmographies and trailers. The disc will retail at $27.95. Thanks to DVD File once again for the disc information.
Tomb Raider - in addition to the features already reported, the disc will also feature two more featurettes - "Crafting Lara Croft," a look at Angelina Jolie's three-month physical training for the role, and "The Stunts of Tomb Raider," including cast and crew interviews - along with four deleted scenes, an alternate main title sequence, the U2 music video "Elevation - Tomb Raider Mix," and four more DVD-ROM features: a Tomb Raider timeline, the archived Tomb Raider website, extended IPIX TM gallery and access to an exclusive Tomb Raider website.
Prince of Tides - in addition to confirming the release date as the 6th of November, the meagre disc specifications are now available. The disc will feature an anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer and English, Spanish, French and Portuguese 2.0 surround and subtitle tracks. It appears there will be absolutely no extras of any kind. The disc will retail at $24.95.
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory - Warner have finally officially announced a widescreen version for release on the 13th of November at a retail price of $24.98. The disc will feature all the extras available on the full frame version, which is released today.
