First Aquaman poster is released ahead of the trailer debut this weekend

It's fair to say the DC Universe hasn't exactly been a raging success to date. A couple of years ago Warner Bros. stated they wanted to lighten things up after being accused of being too po-faced, and after the huge success of Wonder Woman, it was suggested the way forward was standalone films rather than expanding the universe as far and wide as possible.

The continued success of every Marvel film has only served to rub the salt further into the wounds at Warner Bros. But, the show must go on, and next up to bat is Aquaman. Reviews of  Jason Momoa's performance in Justice League were not too favourable and the execs will have their fingers crossed James Wan is able to oversee an upturn in fortunes.

The first trailer for Aquaman will debut this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con and a first poster has been released by Warner Bros. to wet the appetite.

Starring in the film will be Jason Momoa as Aquaman; Amber Heard as Mera; Willem Dafoe as Vulko; Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna.

Aquaman will swim into UK cinemas on December 14th 2018.
