Final Brightburn trailer: Not a young Superman, but instead, a juvenile super-villain

The first two trailers for Brightburn have teased a new twist on the original Superman story: an alien baby crashes to Earth in the middle of hicksville and is raised by a family as their own. As he grows he realises he has superpowers - but this boy ain't about to save the world with them.

The new trailer digs a little further into the plot, but it has to be said, it's all looking pretty corny so far. Maybe it's just the editing and the film itself will look better, we'll have to wait and see. Either way, it's a smart back door entrance by James Gunn into the world of superheroes, and if this does well, it has plenty of room left to expand into multiple sequels. In the meantime check out the final trailer for Brightburn above.

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

Yaroevsky (The Hive) directs, with the cast led by Elizabeth Banks and also starring Meredith Hagner, David Denman and Matt Jones.

Brightburn opens in the US on May 24 and the UK June 19.
