F9 trailer: The 9th Fast & Furious film continues the Vin Diesel family soap opera

As you can see from the title, the film is simply going to be called F9. Not Fast & Furious 9 but F9 (you can add The Fast Saga part if you want) It's a strange choice, but there you go. The F&F saga continues as expected, looking to build on its already huge box office empire that was expanded even further by the success of Hobbs & Shaw earlier this year. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham won’t be appearing in this one, but the soap opera will continue with more ridiculous stunts and adrenaline-fuelled action being being launched in our direction. Although the initial teaser wasn't exactly action packed, showing Vin Diesel playing the family man role and tinkering with a tractor. Production wrapped in mid-November, with returning director Justin Lin saying it was the most ambitious film they’ve made yet. The franchise is currently the seventh highest grossing of all-time and another big return could see if jump to fifth, some distance away from Bond. Watch the first trailer for F9 above.

Lin is directing, with Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Cardi B, Helen Mirren, John Cena, Michael Rooker, Anna Sawai and Vinnie Bennett all starring, with Jordana Brewster returning.

Fast & Furious 9 arrives in cinemas on May 22, 2020.
