DVD Times Charity Drive 2006

Every year DVD Times and The DVD Forums support a charity selected by our readers. We've now had nominations and the first round of voting on The DVD Forums and have a shortlist of 10 charities which we now want you to vote on.

The charities are listed below and you can vote for your choice by filling in the poll on the left. Votes on DVD Times will be combined with those on The DVD Forums and the top charity will be the focus of our fundraising activities for the next 12 months.

For more than 40 years, the British Heart Foundation has been at the forefront of the fight against heart disease, funding research, education, care and much more.

Child Hospice ()
Where adult hospices are government funded, childrens hospices bizarrely have to raise money from individuals and companies. They provide respite care for the child or whole families and provide emergency and end of life care; specialist advice and expertise; practical help and information; and 24 hour telephone support. Above all, they are positive places, helping children and families to make the most of life.

RNLI ()
Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboats have saved more than 137,000 lives. In 2004 RNLI lifeboats rescued 7,507 people - an average of 21 people per day. RNLI Beach Lifeguards assisted 9,041 people.

Our local Branches and Regions aim to support people of all ages and interests in local areas. Each is run by people with direct experience of MS.

When You Wish Upon A Star ()
To be able to fulfil a Wish is an incredible achievement, this can bring a huge smile to a child's face! Also to the parents who have taken time out from the visits to doctors and hospitals to actually have time to enjoy life with their son or daughter doing what they have always dreamed of, sadly too many families go through this heartache with children who are not as lucky as some.

Medicinema ()
MediCinema is a unique charity, bringing the magic of the silver screen to patients by building state of the art cinemas in hospitals. It’s absolutely free for patients and their families, because of the fabulous support we receive - from the film distributors, sponsors and our corporate supporters Vue Entertainment and the Walt Disney Company.

Kidney Research UK ()
