Disney announce Fantasia

Buena Vista Home Entertainment have announced a Region 2 release of Disney's Fantasia. Not only can we expect the recent updated version, but they also intend to release the original on the same date along with a box-set one week later.

Fantasia 2000 will be released on 27 November retailing at Disney's unfortunate £22.99 price point. There won't be much in the way of extra material either with just Roy Disney's introduction to the work of Fantasia and "Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom" - an additional animated cartoon piece set to orchestral music in the way of added value.

Fantasia will be released on the same day, at the same price point and once again with little in the way of added value: The Clair de Lune'- abandoned sequence and 'unseen footage from the original Fantasia'

Finally, the Fantasia Boxset is due on 4 December retailing at an excessive £49.99. For the money, you get an additional third disc featuring:

  • Still frame galleries: The Art of Fantasia
  • Pencil tests of unused animation
