Criterion to release Hopscotch and Ratcatcher in August
Criterion are going to be releasing Lynne Ramsay's critically acclaimed vision of childhood poverty in the 1970s Ratcatcher on August 27th.
The disc, apart from sporting an anamorphic transfer and stereo sound, will feature three award-winning short films by Ramsay - Gasman, Small Deaths and Kill the Day - a recent video interview with the director herself and a stills gallery. The release is out for a modest $29.95.
Also that day, Ronald Neame's Hopscotch, a comedy thriller dealing with a disgruntled demoted Secret Agent, will debut featuring, apart from an anamorphic 2.35:1 transfer and a monaural soudndtrack, a video introduction with director Ronald Neame and screenwriter Brian Garfield, the original theatrical and teaser trailers and - what must be one of the best special features of all time - an alternate audio track featuring the "family-viewing" version of the film, with all the swearing dubbed out. This will also be available for $29.95.
