Cinema chain reverses decision about Stranger By the Lake

Cinema chain Cineworld has reversed its controversial decision to pull Cannes LGBT thriller Stranger by the Lake, after customers and film fans protested on social media.

Cineworld announced its decision yesterday to pull the Guiraudie film from at least five cinemas, due to a scheduling issue from another UK distributor. The issue had left UK distributor Peccadillo Pictures "deeply disappointed", especially as they had already begun marketing the film three days ahead of this weekend's release.

After the decision was met with negative feedback, the chain has decided to honour the screenings as scheduled but at slightly revised times.
