Chapter Two of It is on the way

Off the back of the best ever box office opening weekend for a horror, details about a follow up to It have already started to emerge. Plans by New Line were already in motion before the film was released last week but the success of the past few days have surely cemented them.

According to Entertainment Weekly, one of the screenwriters on the film, Gary Dauberman, has signed up to continue the story, with director Andy Muschietti likely to follow suit.

The end of the first film - spoiler coming up - closes with Chapter One, teasing the idea of a follow-up. As in the Stephen King novel, Chapter Two will pick up on the same characters as adults, jumping forward the 27 years it takes for Pennywise to appear again. Andy Muschietti explained: "On the second movie, that dialogue between timelines will be more present," he went on, "If we’re telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the ‘80s and inform the story in the present day."

Nothing official has been announced yet but after such a record breaking weekend, it won't be long until Chapter Two is confirmed. Bill Skarsgård will no doubt return as the manic clown and the film will most likely see the light of day some time in 2019.
