Catching up on last week’s news (Part 2)

All the Steven Spielberg fans out there can look forward to the 6th of November as another of his movies receives a DVD release. Starring Christian American Psycho Bale and John Malkovich, and based on J. G. Ballard’s autobiographical novel, Empire of the Sun tells the tale of a young boy whose life is thrown into chaos by the Japanese invasion of Shanghai in 1941. The Warner disc will retail for $24.95 and will feature a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, English and French 5.1 and English 2.0 Dolby Digital surround tracks, English and French subtitles, a documentary entitled “The China Odyssey” and the trailer.

In an announcement that I know has many people excited, Disney have announced a special edition of Steven Lisberger’s Tron for release on the 15th of January, to celebrate the movie’s 20th anniversary. Already released as a bare bones disc, the new 2-disc SE will feature a new 2.20:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby 5.1 EX audio, previous laserdisc special features, a new commentary and featurettes. More in-depth details are to be released in the future.

Thanks to DVD File.for the above information.
