Carlito's Way and Scarface SE news

Two Brian DePalma gangster classics are receiving the Special Edition makeover this September courtesy of Universal Studios Home Video. Little is known at this stage other than the following...

Carlito's Way will arrive as a Collector's Edition on 2nd September 2003 sporting a new 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen transfer with a choice of English and French DD5.1 Surround and Spanish DD2.0 Mono audio tracks with accompanying subtitles in the same languages. Special features are yet to be announced, retail is $19.98.

Scarface will arrive in Anniversary Edition form on 30th September 2003 with separate Anamorphic Widescreen and Full Screen editions available. Little else is known at this stage, though the advertising blurb does say The Legend Returns In A Definitive DVD Edition. Experience An All-New Scarface in Unrivaled Sound And Picture Quality. So Universal obviously think they have created a DVD worthy of the film. Retail is $26.98 each.

A Scarface Deluxe Gift Set will also debut on 30th September 2003 and will include the new Anniversay Edition of DePalma's Scarface alongside the original 1932 movie that will be presented in Full Screen with English Mono audio and the standard selection of subtitles (English, French and Spanish). Retail is $59.98.

Here is a look at the artwork for the original 1932 movie that will only be available as part of the Scarface Deluxe Gift Set.
