Capharnaüm trailer: Take a look at the Jury Prize winner at Cannes

Nadine Labaki’s Capharnaum received a 15 minute standing ovation at this years Cannes (which may or may not be a good sign) and went on to pick up the Grand Jury Prize. It has received mixed reviews from critics and arrives at this years London Film Festival for UK audiences to see.

The Lebanese film next plays at TIFF before leaving the festival circuit to start its cinematic run in its home country in a couple of weeks. Watch the trailer for Capharnaum to see more.

A politically-charged fable, featuring mostly non-professional actors, centres around a child called Zein who launches a lawsuit against his parents. When he arrives in court we hear:

JUDGE: Why are you suing your own parents?
ZEIN: For giving me life.

Capharnaum will probably get a UK cinema release at some point next year, but it will be playing at LFF in October. You can buy tickets for the performances here from September 13th onwards.
