Bull trailer: Director Annie Silverstein's Cannes favourite tells an affecting coming-of-age story
Annie Silverstein's directorial fiction debut, Bull, played in the Un Certain Regard section of last year’s Cannes Film Festival and picked up rave reviews from all quarters. It's far from the first film in recent times to be set in the hard-knock arena of the rodeo world, but this coming-of-age story focuses on an ageing veteran asked to take care of a young girl. It stars the always reliable Rob Morgan in the lead (who you may remember from The Last Black Man in San Francisco) and is getting a limited release in the US. Watch the trailer for Bull above to see more.
On the outskirts of Houston, a teen reeling from her mom’s incarceration and an ageing bullfighter struggling to keep a foothold in the rodeo circuit, form an unlikely bond and attempt to right their own paths.
Silverstein also co-wrote the script, with Morgan supported by a cast featuring Yolonda Ross, and Amber Havard.
Bull gets a limited release in the US on March 20 and arrives on digital/VOD on the same day.
