Artificial Eye releases for December
Artificial Eye have announced three DVDs for release in December - The Farewell, Liam and Solas.
The Farewell is directed by Jan Schütte. Set in 1956 Berlin, the film covers the last summer of Bertolt Brecht and the women in his life. Brecht is in the centre of the storm in a heaven and hell of human relationships: love and hatred, jealousy and egomania, betrayal and dashed hopes. The DVD is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 with an anamorphic 16:9 transfer and includes filmographies and production notes.
Set in Liverpool, Liam tells the story of a family’s struggle to keep things together amidst the ravages of the depression, vividly told from the viewpoint of a seven year old boy. The film is directed by Stephen Frears (High Fidelity, Dangerous Liaisons) and written by Jimmy McGovern (Cracker, The Lakes, Hillsborough). The DVD is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 with an anamorphic 16:9 transfer and includes theatrical trailer, filmographies and production notes.
The winner of 14 international film awards, including 5 Goyas, the Spanish Oscars, Benito Zambrano’s Solas tells the story of Maria who, disillusioned and embittered by her experiences with men, finds her only solace lies in drink. But when her father falls ill and is taken into a city hospital, Maria has to share her apartment with her mother - a woman whose simple life in the country could not be more different. The DVD is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 with an anamorphic 16:9 transfer and includes theatrical trailer, filmographies and production notes.
All three DVDs carry a 15 certificate and are released on 26th December with a retail price of £19.99.
