Artificial Eye announcements
Artificial Eye have announced two titles for release in October. Both will retail for £19.99 when they are released on 15 October.
The Captive (La Captive) is based on the fifth volume of Marcel Proust's masterwork 'In Search Of Lost Time' (or 'Remembrance of Things Past'), 'La Prisoniere', and has been adapted for this film by Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman. The film tells the story of the relationship between Ariane (Sylvie Testud) and her lover Simon (Stanislas Merhar). Simon is convinced that Ariane is leading a double life, but his obsession with her threatens to consume him. The DVD will feature a 1.85:1 transfer and Dolby Digital 2.0 sound along with a trailer, production notes and filmographies
Secondly we have Code Unknown (Code Inconnu) from Michael Haneke. This has recently been given a French DVD release which includes a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, the UK disc will feature just Dolby Digital 2.0, but should gain a commentary track. The French disc has been reviewed here by Noel Megahey - our advice is, unless you are desperate, to wait for the UK disc to be released before choosing which one to buy.
