Arrow Goes To War

On 22nd September Arrow Films is releasing the box office success Mrs Caldicot’s Cabbage War onto DVD. The DVD will be available to rent.

Award winning actress, Pauline Collins, stars with her real-life husband, John Alderton (soon to be seen in the up-coming Calendar Girls) in this bittersweet comedy drama about Thelma Caldicot, a highly intelligent but downtrodden housewife whose bully of a husband dies in a freak accident. After a lifetime of putting others before her, she is finally looking forward to her independence, but her plans are thwarted when her greedy, overly ambitious son decides to put her into an old people’s home instead, with some surprising results. Rather than remain the timid mouse that everyone had always thought her to be she suddenly finds her voice and is finally able to express her true self when she leads the residents of the home in a rebellion against their regime of pills and cabbage soup.

Directed by Ian Sharp and based on the book by Vernon Coleman, the film also boasts a sparkling array of stars of British stage and screen including Paul Freeman, Peter Capaldi, Isla Blair, Martin Jarvis, Tony Robinson, Sheila Reid and Anna Wilson-Jones.

The film has won numerous awards from festivals around the world including the prestigious (it says here in the press release) Audience Award at the Chichester Film Festival.

The Region 0 DVD carries a 12 certificate, an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack
