Ad Astra trailer - Brad Pitt travels through space in search of his father to save humanity

Originally scheduled for release a couple of months ago, James Gray's Ad Astra has now been pushed back to the back end of the year. It's the second time the film has been delayed, after January was the first date given for release by 20th Century Fox. The ongoing delays are due to Gray's tinkering in the edit room, as he aims to perfect every aspect of his film. Rumours of a trailer have been banded around for a while and now we finally get a first look at the Brad Pitt-led sci-fi. Hit play above to see what Ad Astra has in store.

Astronaut Roy McBride travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

Gray writes as well as directs, with the cast also starring Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland and Jamie Kennedy.

Ad Astra arrives in UK cinemas on September 18 and the US on September 20.
