Abominable trailer: So near and Yeti so far from home

We've had films about a Yeti and The Missing Link, so why not complete the set with Abominable? DreamWorks’ new animated film will be the only other animated release from the studio aside from the final part of How to Train Your Dragon. Giving a film a title like this is pretty risky if it turns out to be a turkey, but the trailer plays out well enough with some handsome looking animation, suggesting they might be onto something here. When teenage Yi encounters a young Yeti on the roof of her apartment building in Shanghai, she and her mischievous friends, Jin and Peng, name him “Everest” and embark on an epic quest to reunite the magical creature with his family at the highest point on Earth. But the trio of friends will have to stay one-step ahead of Burnish, a wealthy man intent on capturing a Yeti, and zoologist Dr. Zara, to help Everest get home.

Jill Culton and Todd Wilderman are directing, with Albert Tsai, Sarah Paulson, Chloe Bennet, Eddie Izzard, Michelle Wong and Tenzing Norgay Trainor all in the voice cast.

Abominable appears in US cinemas on September 27 and in the UK on October 11.
