2 Films by Danny Boyle in May

Cinema Club have announced the UK DVD release of two films by Danny Boyle, Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise and Strumpet, for 15th May 2006 priced at £15.99 each. Both of these darkly comic films are written by Jim Cartwright, who wrote the screenplay for ‘Little Voice’.

Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise stars the Timothy Spall (Secrets & Lies; Topsy Turvy) who plays Tommy Rag, a vile, uncouth salesman, determined to win ‘The Golden Vac’ award for foisting vacuum cleaners on an unsuspecting public. He lives on a diet of ‘puffa puffa rice’, stored in his glove compartment, and listens to motivation tapes of his own voice shouting ‘sell, sell, f***kin’ sell’. He’s sure the Golden Vac can be his, if only he hadn’t been saddled with meek trainee Pete (Michael Begley), who has taken the job so his girlfriend can stop stripping. Soon Tommy is teaching Pete the tricks of his trade, little knowing that he is sowing the seeds of his own destruction.

Strumpet stars Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later) and is a heart warming tale of comic, chaotic characters in a mixed up urban world. Strayman is a spontaneous poet who is landlord to a pack of stray dogs. Unable to resist another of life's strays, he hooks up with Strumpet, a shy homeless girl with an exceptional gift for music. After Strayman's neighbour overhears them singing, the three set off for London - Strayman's dogs in tow - in search of fame, fortune and Top of the Pops.

Both films are presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with English 2.0 audio and optional English HOH subtitles.
