2 Entertain’s never-ending supply of BBC and other TV on DVD releases continues with this lot coming your way in May and June…

Doctor Who: Creature from the Pit (£19.99) - Featuring Tom Baker as the fourth doctor, extras on this release include:

  • Commentary - With actors Lalla Ward and Myra Frances, director Christopher Barry and visual effects designer Mat Irvine.
  • Christopher Barry: Director– director Christopher Barry, on location in the Wiltshire village of Aldbourne, talks about his career.
  • Team Erato - the BBC Visual Effects crew talk about the problems they faced building and operating Erato.
  • Animal Magic – shot on the studio set for ‘The Creature from the Pit’, the fourth Doctor tells viewers of the long-running childrens’ show about some of the creatures he has met on his travels.
  • Photo Gallery, Coming Soon Trailer, Radio Times Listings in Adobe PDF format and Programme subtitles

Also look for seventies drama The Onedin Line Series 2 (£39.99), comedy from 1973 with The Morecambe and Wise Show Series 7, the recent documentary series Richard Hammond’s Invisible Worlds (£15.99 on DVD, £19.99 on Blu-ray), a natural history documentary series presented by Jimmy Doherty Museum of Life (£24.99) and more cold case crime drama with Waking the Dead Series 7 (£34.99). No extras are listed for any of these.

This week look for urban comedy Grownups Series 2 (£19.99), ITV documentary series Joanna Lumley’s Nile (£19.99), the BBC’s drama series on Maggie Thatcher Margaret (£15.99) and the CBBC series Horrible Histories Series 1 (£12.99). Only the latter has any extras with deleted scenes, a song selector and quiz time.

Just the one title this week - The Two Ronnies Series 7 (£15.99). Originally broadcast between December 1978 and February 1979, there are no extras.

Another one title week, and another comedy with Are You Being Served? Series 9 (£15.99). There are no extras.

31st May 2010
Rounding out the month is Money (£15.99), Blitz Street (£15.99) and Happy Brithday Fifi (£7.99). Once again the children’s DVD gets some extras in the form of Fifi Birthday Cards.

Look for comedy from the writers of Peep Show and The Thick of It with The Old Guys Series 1 (£19.99), more fuel-injected challenges with Top Gear The Challenges Volume 4 (£15.99),more pathologist tales with Silent Witness Series 5 & 6 (£24.99), village drama with Ballykissangel Series 6 (£19.99) and high-octane drama with Chris Ryan’s Strike Back (£24.99 on DVD, £29.99 on Blu-ray). The latter includes cast interview and behind-the-scenes material, while the Top Gear DVD includes over an hour of extras such as outtakes, deleted scenes, Ken Block’s stunts in Slow Motion, as well as, extended interviews with Jenson Button and Brian Johnson.

Also out this week is Doctor Who Series 5 Volume 1 which features the first 3 episodes of the new series starring Matt Smith as the eleventh doctor. Out on DVD (£15.99) and Blu-ray (£19.99), the only extra is a 10-minute featurette produced by the team behind BBC3's Doctor Who Confidential series. Called 'The Monster Files’ it looks at the Doctor's opponents and offers previously unseen footage and exclusive comments from cast and crew.

This week look for the six-part series on the evolution of scientific understanding The Story of Science (£24.99 on DVD, £34.99 on Blu-ray) which includes The Cell BBC4 Factual Series (3 x 60min) as an extra. Also up is Lennon Naked (£15.99) which is a John Lennon biopic starring Christopher Eccleston, then you have football comedy The Cup (£15.99) which includes some extras in the form of a behind-the-scenes featurette, extended scenes, outtakes and character interviews. Rounding out the week is Legends of Comedy (£24.99) which unites three one-off dramas revealing the off-camera lives of some of the UK's best known comedians.

Idris Elba of The Wire stars in the psychological thriller Luther (£24.99) which includes behind-the-scenes material. Also out this week is the sketch show series The Wrong Door (£15.99).

28th June 2010
Rounding out the month is The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister (£17.99) which stars Maxine Peake. The disc includes Diaries of Anne Lister - a documentary with comedy writer and presenter Sue Perkins telling the story of Anne Lister and the decoding of her diaries.
