Cam trailer: The acclaimed horror thriller arrives next week on Netflix

For all the terribly obvious horrors Blumhouse have produced over the years (which has seen them amass over $4bn in box office revenue), their hit rate has started to improve with films like The Gift, Get Out, Whiplash, Split and a handful of others showing they are prepared to back creative directors willing to work on a small budget. Cam is another small thriller with great reviews that has been picked up by Netflix and is preparing for launch. It played at this year's London Film Festival, and in her review our own Mari Jones said: "Cam is an intriguing look at an obscure world...a brilliant genre piece that delivers a few seriously unnerving moments." Check out the trailer for Cam above right now.

The film follows Alice (Madeline Brewer), an ambitious camgirl, who wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself. As this copy begins to push the boundaries of Alice's internet identity, the control that Alice has over her life, and the men in it, vanishes. While she struggles to regain what she's lost, she slowly finds herself drawn back to her show and to the mysterious person who has taken her place.

Daniel Goldhaber directs his debut film, with the rest of the cast featuring Patch Darragh, Melora Walters, Devin Druid, Imani Hakim, Michael Dempsey, Flora Diaz, Samantha Robinson, and Jessica Parker Kennedy.

Cam arrives on Netflix on November 16th 2018.

Netflix is an American entertainment company founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph on August 29, 1997, in Scotts Valley, California. It specialises in and provides streaming media and video-on-demand online. In 2013, Netflix expanded into film and television production, as well as online distribution.
