In an excellent 'return to form for Eastwood' - (News of the World) both in front of and behind the camera, Blood Work is a thriller with plenty of twists and trademark firearms stand-offs. "It's a detective story and a human relationship story," says Eastwood. "This project was an opportunity for me to take a different approach to detective work. I especially like McCaleb's vulnerability, both physically and psychologically, which presents an interesting challenge for him to overcome."
Adapted for the screen by Academy Award Winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Payback) the film also features a powerful performance by Anjelica Houston as Eastwood's pushy doctor trying to make him take it easy and Jeff Daniels on top form as his clumsy neighbour Buddy.
Blood Work Marks Eastwood's 18th film as producer, his 23rd as director and 44th as star. The consummate filmmaker his career spans four decades and has touched generations of moviegoers.
He is one of the most prolific, versatile artists in the history of the medium, involving himself first as an actor, then as a director and producer. Eastwood's remarkable achievements have been fuelled by his enormous box-office appeal and likewise reflected in the recognition he has received. His respect within the film industry is matched only by his appreciation from the public at large. His ongoing body of work is without peer. Clint Eastwood is a film icon.
