premiered at TIFF in August and now the final trailer for the film has finally been released. Brady Corbet's film has received largely good reviews, although our own Alistair Ryder said in his recent LFF review that it "...tirelessly demands the audience to congratulate it for how smart it thinks it is." Portman's performance is receiving praise from all quarters, so she will probably be in the awards conversation over the next few months. In the year 1999, on the eve of the 21st century, teenage sisters Celeste and Eleanor survive a seismic, violent tragedy. The sisters compose and perform a song about their experience, making something lovely and cathartic out of catastrophe - while also catapulting Celeste to stardom. By 2017, the now 31-year-old Celeste is mother to a teenage daughter of her own and struggling to navigate a career fraught with scandals when another act of terrifying violence demands her attention.
Brady Corbet (The Childhood of a Leader) writes and directs, with the supporting cast also featuring Jude Law, Jennifer Ehle and Stacey Martin.
Vox Lux is released in UK cinemas in 2019, although we don't have any exact details just yet. It hits US theatres on December 7th.
