The Aftermath trailer: Keira Knightley gets close to Alexander Skarsgård in this period drama
Based on the 2005 BBC TV film, Mr. Harvey Lights a Candle, The Aftermath sees Keira Knightley in - you've guessed it - a period drama. This time it's not of the 19th century type, but a forbidden love story that takes place during World War II. It also has Ridley Scott serving as executive producer (Scott Free Productions produced the film). You can take a look right now at The Aftermath above.
Rachael Morgan arrives in the ruins of Hamburg in the bitter winter, to be reunited with her husband Lewis, a British colonel charged with rebuilding the shattered city. But as they set off for their new home, Rachael is stunned to discover that Lewis has made an unexpected decision: They will be sharing the grand house with its previous owners, a German widower and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, enmity and grief give way to passion and betrayal.
James Kent directs with Keira Knightley and Alexander Skarsgård leading a cast featuring Jason Clarke, Kate Phillips and Jannik Schümann.
The Aftermath opens in UK cinemas on March 1st 2019.
