Anticipated R1 DVD street dates, cover art and teasers

What follows is exactly what the title suggests, a collection of street dates, artwork and teaser details for R1 releases that are long awaited (by me at least!)...

BBC AmericaShop have listed details on their Summer 2003 releases that include various series and individual titles, the one that caught my eye and conveniently the one we have further details on is...

Full Bottom: Not Another Half-Arsed Release DVD - Rick Mayall and Ade Edmondson were the creators and stars of 1980s cult smash The Young Ones. In this follow-up series, they bring you Richie Richard and Eddie Hitler-two vulgar and pathetic loners desperately seeking love, money and friendship, and failing to find any of it. As they pursue their doomed quest, they experiment with pheromones, join a dating service, and dress up for a devil and a banana.

As the synopsis suggests, and the title likes to rub in is the fact that there is no decent release of Bottom on DVD, but as the $59.98 retail price listed by Warner (who will publish) suggests this will indeed contain all three seasons of the inane comedy show in one smelly box. The release is set for September 2nd 2003 (R1 only at this time). have posted the R1 DVD cover for the long awaited The Simpsons - The Complete Third Season, though typically no release date is yet listed. Giving a hint as to when we can expect the third season is Choices Direct who list the UK Region 2 release date as July 28th. Now last year the Region 1 DVD release of Season 2 followed roughly one month after the Region 2, will the same happen this time around?

Just revealed by Warner is the oft delayed Special Edition DVD release of a personal animated favourite of mine, The Iron Giant. Easily one of the best US animated films this classic will be released to Region 1 DVD on August 26th carrying an Anamorphic Widescreen transfer, DD5.1 audio and a range of all-new bonus material that are yet to be announced. Retail is $19.98.

Fans of Japanese director Seijun Sezuki (Tokyo Drifter, Branded to Kill) can look forward to the Region 1 DVD release of his latest, Pistol Opera, when Media Blasters release it on June 24th. We can expect an anamorphic widescreen transfer, the original Japanese language with English subtitles - but little else is known beyond that. Retail is $29.95.

And finally it would appear that has gone Fox TV crazy by revealing these tentative release dates...
