Apostle trailer: Gareth Evans sends Dan Stevens deep into a religious cult

Director Gareth Evans has been pretty quiet since making the sequel to The Raid in 2014 but Apostle marks the first of two or three new projects he has been working on. It adds to an ever growing list of highly anticipated film releases from Netflix in the last quarter of the year, and we hope many of them are more successful than some of the previous launched on the platform. Watch the trailer for Apostle above to get a first look.

The year is 1905. Thomas Richardson travels to a remote island to rescue his sister after she’s kidnapped by a mysterious religious cult demanding a ransom for her safe return. It soon becomes clear that the cult will regret the day it baited this man, as he digs deeper and deeper into the secrets and lies upon which the commune is built.

Evans has also written the script with the supporting cast featuring Lucy Boynton, Mark Lewis Jones, Bill Milner, Kristine Froseth, Paul Higgins and Michael Sheen.

Apostle arrives on Netflix on 12th October 2018.
