Mary Poppins Returns trailer: A first look at Emily Blunt's flying nanny
To many it will seem like sacrilege to even contemplate putting together a sequel to such an iconic film but Disney have ploughed ahead regardless. Emily Blunt is never less than fully committed to any role she takes on and Ben Whishaw is always a delight to watch. It's hard to tell from the trailer but it does seem quite safe and the problem it faces from frame one to the last is comparisons to the original. Judge for yourself and take a look at the trailer for Mary Poppins Returns above.
In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.
Rob Marshall is directing, with the supporting cast featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep and Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and Joel Dawson as the three young Banks children.
Mary Poppins Returns flies into UK cinemas on December 21st 2018.
