Quincy trailer: A documentary looking back on the life of a musical legend
More on Netflix
Ahead of making its debut at TIFF next week, a new trailer for Quincy - a documentary about Quincy Jones - has not long been released. It is directed by Alan Hicks and Jones' daughter Rashida, so there won't be anything too unexpected put up on screen, but hopefully we get a detailed look at the huge influence he has had on modern music and culture. Watch the trailer for Quincy above to see more.
The film threads personal vérité moments with private archival footage to reveal a legendary life like no other. A unique force in music and popular culture for 70 years, Jones has transcended racial and cultural boundaries; his story is inextricably woven into the fabric of America.
Beyond his own acclaim as a trumpeter, producer, conductor, composer and arranger, Jones’ inimitable gift to discover the biggest talents of the past half of the century is unprecedented. He has mentored and cultivated the careers of young talents, from Lesley Gore and Michael Jackson to Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith.
As you would expect the documentary is filled with entertainment royalty including: Kareem Abdul-Jabba, Tony Bennett, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blig, Bono, Michael Caine, Dave Chappelle, D'Angelo, Dr. Dre, Lady Gaga, Herbie Hancock, Tom Hanks, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney, John Legend, Willie Nelson, Michelle Obama, Lionel Richie, Will Smith, Snoop Dogg, Oprah Winfrey and Stevie Wonder.
Quincy arrives on Netflix on September 21st 2018.
