Climax trailer: A night of hell with Gaspar Noé
Back in May we were given a short teaser for Gaspar Noé's new film Climax the day after it had premièred Cannes. We've since seen the film and will be reviewing near to release next month. One thing is for sure it will prove to be as divisive as pretty much anything else he has released to date. You get the usual stunning camera control, eye-catching visuals, a fantastic opening dance sequence and, of course, the extreme violence and mayhem he revels in. Watch the first full trailer for Climax above to get an extended look.
In Climax, a troupe of young dancers gather in a remote and empty school building to rehearse. Following an unforgettable opening performance lit by virtuoso cinematographer Benoît Debie and shot by Noé himself, the troupe begins an all-night celebration that turns nightmarish as the dancers discover they’ve been pounding cups of sangria laced with potent LSD.
Most of the cast are made up of real dancers and first-time actors, with Sofia Boutella the most notable name in a role that sees her return to her dance roots.
Climax explodes onto UK cinema screens on September 21st 2018.
