Green Book trailer: Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali hit the road together
An odd couple are thrown together in a story that sees them overcome their differences and learn to respect each other by the end. Hmm, anyone might think Green Book is being pitched at the Oscars. Cynicism aside, any film starring Mortensen or Ali is always worth a watch, let alone when they are paired together. To be fair, the trailer isn't too bad but we just have to hope it isn't filled to the brim with clichés as Hollywood pats itself on the back for being so incredibly diverse. Watch the trailer for Green Book above to get a first look.
Set in America in 1962, Green Book tells the heart-warming true story of Tony Lip (Mortensen), a working-class Italian-American bouncer who takes on a job as a chauffeur for Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), a highly-educated African-American classical pianist. The mismatched pair embark on a two-month tour of concert venues in the racially charged deep south and discover they’re on the road to a meaningful and unique friendship.
Peter Farrelly (that's right, half of the Farrelly brothers) is directing, with Linda Cardellini, Don Stark and Brian Stepanek in the supporting cast.
Green Book opens in UK cinemas on February 8th 2019.
