Galveston trailer: Inglourious Basterds meets True Detective
OK, we've been a little bit expansive with the title of this post for Galveston but the principle remains true. The Inglourious Basterds part refers to Melanie Laurent, who is directing, and the True Detective half is a reference to Nic Pizzolatto, creator of the hit HBO series, whose Galveston book Laurent has adapted. Unfortunately, despite being picked out as one to watch before this years South by Southwest Film Festival, reviews haven't been too great so far. Watch the Galveston trailer above to see what you make of it.
The film centres on New Orleans hitman Roy Cady, diagnosed with lung cancer at 40. Before the cancer can do him in, however, he has more pressing concerns in the form of his mobster boss, who has decided to remove him from the business – and the world – via a set-up. Turning the tables, he goes on the run having rescued teenage hooker Raquel “Rocky” Arceneaux. He’s persuaded to pick up her baby sister Tiffany, and with his new wards in tow, heads to his titular hometown to scheme revenge and redemption.
The cast features Elle Fanning, Lili Reinhart, Ben Foster, María Valverde, Beau Bridges, Robert Aramayo and Adepero Oduye.
Galveston only has a France release date at the moment, hitting cinemas there in October.
