The Miseducation of Cameron Post trailer: Chloë Grace Moretz battles against gay conversion therapy
Based on the celebrated novel by Emily M. Danforth, The Miseducation of Cameron Post debuted at Sundance earlier this year to largely positive reviews, even picking up the Grand Jury Prize along the way. Its time on the festival circuit has run its course and is now getting ready for release in both the US and the UK. You can check out the trailer for The Miseducation of Cameron Post above if you want to find out more.
The film follows Cameron (Chloë Grace Moretz) as she is sent to a gay conversion therapy center after getting caught having sex with the prom queen. Run by the strict Dr. Lydia Marsh and her brother, Reverend Rick — himself an example of how those in the program can be “cured” — the centre is populated by teens “struggling with same-sex attraction.”
In the face of outlandish discipline, dubious methods, and earnest Christian rock songs, Cameron forms an unlikely gay community, including the amputee stoner Jane and the Lakota Two-Spirit, Adam. In creating a family on her own terms, she learns what it means to empower herself and have confidence in her identity.
Desiree Akhavan (Appropriate Behaviour) directs with Forrest Goodluck and Sasha Lane starring alongside Moretz and Jennifer Ehle and John Gallagher Jr. also in the support cast.
The Miseducation of Cameron Post arrives in UK cinemas on August 31st 2018.
