We The Animals trailer: The dream-like inner world of a young boy and his two brothers
There are a lot films that are hyped to death at Sundance every year, with many failing to live up to the initial buzz once they leave the festival circuit. The hope is that We The Animals can avoid that. Justin Torres' 2011 autobiographical novel of the same name came out of the festival with a lot of praise and has been called "this year's Moonlight" in some quarters - which is heavy praise indeed. Watch the trailer for We The Animals above to get a better idea of what's in store.
Us three. Us brothers. Us kings, inseparable. Three boys tear through their childhood, in the midst of their young parents’ volatile love that makes and unmakes the family many times over. While Manny and Joel grow into versions of their loving and unpredictable father, Ma seeks to shelter her youngest, Jonah, in the cocoon of home. More sensitive and conscious than his older siblings, Jonah increasingly embraces an imagined world all his own.
Jeremiah Zagar directs, with the cast starring Terry Holland, Evan Rosado, Isaiah Kristian, Josiah Gabriel, Sheila Vand, and Raúl Castillo.
We The Animals gets a mid-August US release but no news yet about a UK date.
