Madeline’s Madeline trailer: An unforgettable trailer for a truly unique film
The trailer for Madeline's Madeline is pretty great. It's a reminder of what a trailer should be about, teasing just enough to build excitement with use of inventive visuals without revealing a thing about the plot. It picked up a lot of plaudits at this years Sundance and we can only hope the film lives up to the surreal visuals shown in this 90 second video. Madeline (Helena Howard) has become an integral part of a prestigious physical theatre troupe. When the workshop’s ambitious director pushes the teenager to weave her rich interior world and troubled history with her mother into their collective art, the lines between performance and reality begin to blur. The resulting battle between imagination and appropriation spirals out of the rehearsal space and rips through all three women’s lives.
Josephine Decker writes and directs her fourth film (her fifth, Mosaic, is already in the bag and another - Shirley, starring Elisabeth Moss - is in the works). Molly Parker and Miranda July also feature in the film alongside Howard.
Madeline's Madeline gets an early August release in the US, but no news as of yet on a UK date.
