Support the Girls trailer: Regina Hall is put to the test as a sports bar manager
Indie-comedy fans may recall Andrew Bujalski's Funny Ha Ha or Computer Chess and his new release, Support the Girls, features Regina Hall in the lead role. The film debuted at the SXSW Film Festival earlier in the year to great reviews and features a great supporting cast, including the wonderful Haley Lu Richardson. Watch the trailer for Support the Girls above to see what you make of it.
Lisa Conroy (Hall) is the last person you’d expect to find in a highway-side ‘sports bar with curves,’ but as general manager at Double Whammies, she’s come to love the place and its customers. An incurable den mother, she nurtures and protects her girls fiercely, but over the course of one trying day, her optimism is battered from every direction. Double Whammies sells a big, weird American fantasy, but what happens when reality pokes a bunch of holes in it?
Bujalski also wrote the script, with the cast also featuring Haley Lu Richardson, Shayna McHayle, Brooklyn Decker, Jana Kramer, James Le Gros, Dylan Gelula, AJ Michalka, and Lea DeLaria.
Support the Girls gets a late August release in the US on a limited release, so we're not sure if this will make it over to the UK at this stage.
