New Alpha trailer: Kodi Smit-McPhee gets ready for the hunt

There aren't many films set in the Ice Age (well, apart from Dreamworks' Ice Age of course) and Alpha is a late-summer fantasy adventure blockbuster looking to break that mould. It was originally called The Solutrean (a much better name) and was due for release last September, but it has been pushed back for almost a year. Take a look at the new trailer for Alpha above and the new poster for the film at the bottom of this post.

An epic adventure set in the last Ice Age. Europe, 20,000 years ago. While on his first hunt with his tribe’s most elite group, a young man is injured and left for dead. Awakening to find himself broken and alone -- he must learn to survive and navigate the harsh and unforgiving wilderness. Reluctantly taming a lone wolf abandoned by its pack, the pair learn to rely on each other and become unlikely allies, enduring countless dangers and overwhelming odds in order to find their way home before the deadly winter arrives.

Albert Hughes (Menace II Society, The Book of Eli) directs with the cast led by Kodi Smit-McPhee and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, with Natassia Malthe  Leonor Varela, Mercedes de la Zerda and Jens Hultén all in support.

Alpha comes to UK cinemas on August 24th 2018.
