The Sisters Brothers trailer: Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly lead an all-star cast
French filmmaker Jacques Audiard makes his first English speaking film with The Sisters Brothers, his first effort after picking up the Palme d'Or for Dheepan back in 2015. The A Prophet and Rust and Bone writer/director has brought together a stellar cast for the dark western comedy that has one or two echoes of the Coens, although it is in fact an adaptation of Patrick deWitt's novel of the same name. Take a look at the first trailer for The Sisters Brothers to find out more.
The film revolves around the colourfully named gold prospector Hermann Kermit Warm, who’s being pursued across 1000 miles of 1850s Oregon desert to San Francisco by the notorious assassins Eli and Charlie Sisters (John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix). Except Eli is having a personal crisis and beginning to doubt the longevity of his chosen career. And Hermann might have a better offer.
Audiard wrote the screenplay with long-time collaborator Thomas Bidegain and the rest of the cast features Jake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed, Rutger Hauer, Carol Kane and Rebecca Root.
The Sisters Brothers has yet to make its debut on the festival circuit so it is looking like a 2019 release for the UK.
