BlacKkKlansman trailer: Jordan Peele is on-board for Spike Lee's latest
They say truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and going by the story of Spike Lee's new film, BlacKkKlansman, that definitely seems to be the case. The film also sees Jordan Peele on-board as one of the producers, marking the first time the two have worked together. The film made its début at Cannes and while the reviews are mixed (a pattern repeated throughout most of Lee's career) it looks like a must see later in the year. It’s the early 1970s, and Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department. Determined to make a name for himself, Stallworth bravely sets out on a dangerous mission: infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan.
The young detective soon recruits a more seasoned colleague, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), into the undercover investigation of a lifetime. Together, they team up to take down the extremist hate group as the organization aims to sanitize its violent rhetoric to appeal to the mainstream.
David Rabinowit, Charlie Wachtel, Kevin Willmott all worked with Lee on the screenplay to bring Ron Stallworth book of the same name to the screen, with the cast also featuring Topher Grace, Isiah Whitlock Jr, Corey Hawkins, Laura Harrier, Robert John Burke, Harry Belafonte and Ryan Eggold.
BlacKkKlansman comes to UK cinemas on August 24th 2018.
