A Prayer Before Dawn trailer: A British boxer fights for his life in a Thailand jail
Boxing has provided a constant source of inspiration for cinema over the years, with Paddy Considine's Journeyman being the most recent example. Stories about people surviving in overseas jails are far less common, which is what makes the idea of combining the two ideas in A Prayer Before Dawn sound so intriguing. Reviews have been very favourable so far with the performance of Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror) proving to be the highlight for many. Altitude have released the UK trailer which you can check out right now.
It tells the true story of Billy Moore, a young English boxer incarcerated for three years in two of Thailand’s most notorious prisons. He is quickly thrown into a world of drugs and gang violence, but when the prison authorities allow him to take part in the Muay Thai boxing tournaments, Billy realises that this is his only hope for survival, taking him on an incredible journey to redemption.
Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire is directing, with Vithaya Pansringarm and Nicolas Shake in support. Jonathan Hirschbein and Nick Saltrese are responsible for adapting Billy Moore's memoirs for the big screen.
A Prayer Before Dawn arrives in UK cinemas on July 20th 2018.
