Dark Crimes trailer: Jim Carrey ain't messin' around

The Number 23 and I Love You Phillip Morris showed Jim Carrey had other ambitions outside of just broad comedy, and more recently his bearded performance in Ana Lily Amirpour's The Bad Batch saw him look completely unrecognisable. The documentary, Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, was very keen to tell us how 'seriously' he takes his art (sure, we get it Jim) and in the first trailer for Dark Crimes we see him play it straight as a bat. The film first appeared at the Warsaw Film Festival back in 2016 but hasn't been seen since. Out of nowhere, now we have the first trailer, check it out and see what you think...and if you can figure out what sort of accent Carrey is trying to lean into, please let us know.

The movie is based on a true story that was told in a 2008 New Yorker article titled, True Crimes – A postmodern murder mystery, by David Grann. Greek director Alexandros Avranas (Miss Violence) directs, with support from Charlotte Gainsbourg and Marton Csokas.

It might not make it to the UK at all given the delays and the fact that Dark Crimes arrives in the US on DirecTV April 19th 2018, and hits limited theatres/VOD on May 18th.
