Loro trailer: Paolo Sorrentino takes on Berlusconi

The life of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi seems ripe enough for a transfer to the big screen and director Paolo Sorrentino is probably the best man to take on the task. The first teaser trailer for Loro has been released and you can check it out above.

The trailer doesn't reveal the face of the person taking on Berlusconi, but we know it is Toni Servillo, the charismatic Italian actor who worked with the director on the Oscar winning The Great Beauty. The first part of Loro will be released in Italy on April 24th, with part two to arrive in cinemas on May 24th. Whether this affects the film being shown at Cannes remains to be seen, as they generally only accept world premières for the festival, although exceptions have been made in the past.

Umberto Contarello, who also worked with Sorrentino on the excellent TV series, The Young Pope, has shaped the script with the director, while Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Chiara Iezzi and Riccardo Scamarcio also make up the cast.

It may be some time before we see Loro released in the UK, but we'll keep you posted on trailers and dates as and when they appear.
