The Third Murder trailer: Something a little different from Kore-eda
More known for his intimate humanist dramas, Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda has established a loyal fan base across the world, despite his work barely registering at the box office outside of his native country. This year sees the director move into new territory with the release of The Third Murder, and you can check out the first UK trailer for the film above.
Leading attorney Shigemori takes on the defence of murder-robbery suspect Misumi who served jail time for another murder 30 years ago. Shigemori's chances of winning the case seem low - his client freely admits his guilt, despite facing the death penalty if he is convicted. As he digs deeper into the case, as he hears the testimonies of the victim's family and Misumi himself, the once confident Shigemori begins to doubt whether his client is the murderer after all.
Fukuyama Masaharu (Like Father, Like Son) returns to work with Kore-eda, as does Hirose Suzu (Our Little Sister) while Yakusho Koji also stars.
The Third Murder arrives in UK cinemas on March 23rd.
