Quentin Tarantino is pitching an idea for a new Star Trek film
Quentin Tarantino has long been a Star Trek fan, but a film put together by the mind behind Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction hasn't really been something anyone expected. That could be about to change - Deadline is reporting that the director is pitching an idea to Paramount for a new Trek film and that the studio is taking his interest seriously enough to get him together with J.J.Abrams (who directed two of the recent three Trek films) and form a writers room to flesh out his pitch.
Ahead of the release of Star Trek Beyond, Paramount had pre-emptively announced a fourth film that would have reunited Chris Hemsworth's George Kirk with his son, Captain James T Kirk. Since then, other than one hint from Simon Pegg on social media that film has gone dark. This is the first sign in recent months that Paramount are still invested in the current run of Trek films.
No details on the proposed film are known - even as far as when or in which Trek universe it will be set and both Tarantino and Abrams are tied up, at least for the foreseeable future on other projects - Tarantino is working on an untitled film based in LA at the time of the Manson murder spree which is set to star Margot Robbie and Abrams is prepping for his return to direct Star Wars: Episode IX.
